Akkuyu Nuclear A.S.’s Compliance with International Standards Confirmed by ISO Certifications

The Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) confirmed the compliance of its management system with ISO standards through certifications issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Akkuyu Nuclear A.S., a subsidiary of Rosatom, which is responsible for Turkey’s first nuclear power plant project, obtained certifications demonstrating its compliance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 19443:2018, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 standards.

Independent certification audits were conducted by Kalitest, a certification body accredited internationally by the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK). During the audit process, all activities of the company, including the design, construction, installation, and commissioning phases of the Akkuyu NPP, were tested for compliance with the integrated management system. Auditors reviewed hundreds of documents and held discussions with 70 managers and employees, without identifying any discrepancies.

Sergey Butckikh, Deputy General Director of Akkuyu Nuclear A.S. and Director of NPP Construction, emphasized the company’s success in the certification process, stating that the compliance of the integrated management system with international standards has been confirmed. He highlighted the strengths of the company identified by auditors and reiterated their commitment to continuous improvement.

Leonid Dvorkin, Chairman of the Audit Group, explained the various stages of the audit process, stating that they physically verified the alignment between practical activities of employees and international standards. He noted that similar audits will be conducted annually to contribute to the continuous improvement of processes within the company.

ISO certifications validate Akkuyu Nuclear A.S.’s successful performance in quality, environmental management, occupational health, and safety, meeting the requirements of both the Turkish Atomic Energy Authority and Rosatom. This achievement demonstrates that Akkuyu NPP has established an integrated management system compliant with international standards and effectively manages its operational processes.
